Store Series S-23

CBN regained the printing contract for CTC coupons with the $2 coupon in the S22 series and the series S23 soon followed with a fresh $1 issue.

After the first 10M coupons were issued, a new prefix, 99, was introduced. Initially called the S24 series, this issue was re-classified back into the S23's. [Collector 2002-Vol12, #1, Page 11]

The plate date is 1998, however the 99 prefix coupons were printed in 1999.

Replacement coupons were issued with a 9 or 999 prefix in the serial number.

*Some replacements [S23-Fa2] with a serial number higher than 9990002500 were used as single note replacements in the CTC S27-F issue.
